Rose Parade 2012

This year we made a last minute decision to check out the Rose Parade in Pasadena. I hadn't been to it since I was a little girl and I had never camped out right on the street before so it was a great new way to experience this event.

Even though we showed up a little late compared to all the other over-nighters we managed to secure a little bit of space right up front! Check out our awesome yellow and black borders courtesy of Carlos!
By this point it was getting pretty late, but I wasn't quite ready to go to sleep. Good thing we came prepared with our travel kit for mate!
The boys were excited for what was to come!
Chris took advantage of an incident with a motorcycle which a police officer stopped to take care of to strike a pose!
Who could that be? The cops will never know!
So happy my mom was able to join us!
Chris was anxious for the parade to start. He wanted to be front and center!
Where's Waldo...I mean, Chris?
Stealthy
Nothing like an old-timey bike to brighten up your morning!
I can't think of a better person than Kenny G to start the floats :)
It's a pony!
The most important people in the parade. The pooper scoopers!
When life gives you lemons... be careful or the aliens will steal them to make lemonade :/

Knights in shining armor galloping on their white stallions still do exist!
The Indonesia float was beautiful!
Wisconsin honey badgers don't give a shit!
Burbank
Los Angeles representing!
So awesome! I love that spotted horse.
The Paramount Studios float was one of my faves!
Bumble Bee!
USS Enterprise
Out of all the high school bands, this one was my favorite. They had style!
These were my mom's favorite :)

A Walk By The Beach

This year we decided to take it easy on labor day weekend. My mom invited my sweetheart and me over for lunch. After she treated us to an amazing lunch - which I unfortunately didn't think of taking a photo :( - we went for a walk by the beach.

I never get tired of seeing this

Last Days With My Bro and Sis

My brother and his girlfriend have become homeowners in the great state of Tennessee and will be moving away very soon. Although I am sad that they will be so far away from me, we are making the most of it by spending time together before their farewell.

Today we went to LACMA to check out the Tim Burton exhibit. I loved it! Unfortunately photos were not allowed so I am unable to show you the awesome drawings and other creations they had. Below are 3 pictures I found online, but if you're in the Los Angeles area I definitely recommend checking it out.

This is what the entrance to the exhibit looks like.

There were tons of awesome sculptures like these.

The drawings were my favorites, but the props from his movies like these Batman masks were pretty rad too!

Reminiscing back to our high school days hanging out on the bleachers ;)

I know you shouldn't feed the giant sloths, but I just couldn't help myself!

Mike and Mel were pretty sad to see the mommy mammoth getting sucked down into the tar pit.

Mother's Day

I love Mother's Day! I think it is important to always tell your mom how much you love her and appreciate her, but having a special day set aside to do that is a good excuse to make your mom feel extra special. Plus, I believe that when a large group of people is sending out the same positive vibes filled with love and gratitude it's like you can feel it raining down on you.

This year we started by waking up early to go for a walk by the beach. One of the advantages of living in Santa Monica I suppose! We then took my mom out to eat some delicious cuban food. And nothing wraps up a day better than drinking some mate and playing a game of chin chon. A wonderful way to spend the day with such a wonderful woman
